I have stayed at the Rookery for 2/3 nights each week for the past 18months. Steve and Averill are delightful people and the The Rookery is just beautiful in every way. Beacuse they are so popular sometimes I have had to stay at other accommodation and nothing compares with The Rookery for warmth of welcome, ambience, and the cleanest most comfortable rooms. Steve and Averill have been on holiday and have left their beautiful home in the loving care of Chris and Linda, who are also delightful caring people. Chris and Steve make the best scrambled eggs in the world and Averill and Linda are warm, charming and friendly. This really is home from home and I thoroughly recommend it. The best B&B ever.

Si vous souhaitez passer un week-end dans une maison typiquement anglaise, c’est ici qu’il faut demeurer. Les hôtes sont d’une gentillesse incomparable. Propreté, confort et convivialité sont au rendez-vous. Le full english breakfast est un vrai délice ; la maison est un petit bijou. Le bassin aquatique du jardin est magnifique. I have stayed at The Rookery for 3 or 4 nights a week for the last 8 years. I really feel at home, like part of the furniture, so to speak Steve and Averill go out of their way for everyone, nothing is too much trouble, they just go that extra mile. The breakfast is cooked by Steve to perfection, while Averill serves on tables with an ever cheery smile, making sure everyone is happy and content. Apart from Averill and Steve, there is another funny little character that resides at The Rookery, Archie, the African grey parrot. He is delightful and very amusing. My stay at The Rookery has been a very happy one and I will continue to stay here for the foreseeable future while my work takes me away from home to Bristol. I could never think of staying anywhere else, so friendly and with such a home from home feel. Dave from Burnley

BETTY and I both were very impressed with everything . The condition of the house was perfect the bedrooms which we personally slept in were extremely well presented as were the en suite showers. We could not fault the food in any way at all it was great.
